Research and documentation

Research journeys were conducted to;
Magnetic Island National Park, choreographic and video work focused around the remains of Port War Signal Station and gun emplacements.
Chillagoe, Cape York Savannah, choreography for photography and video work focused around abandoned marble quarries.
Emerald End Tropical Tablelands, work focused on choreography for night photography and strobe light.
Toomba Cattle Station Charters Towers, choreography for photography and video work focused around basalt lava flows and wetland known as Long Pocket.

Research journeys were conducted to;
Brisbane Powerhouse, choreographic and video work focused on architecture and river.

New Parliament House, choreography for photography focused on architectural features.
Canberra City, choreographic and video work focused on inner city alleyways and architecture.

Bonemap ‘the wild edge’ choreographic enquiry was conducted in recognition of natural history and the social significance of built environments. Dance and movement research in conjunction with screen based media and photography surfaced above other mediums as a way to engage with environments and spaces through the ability to have significant visual and cultural impact without leaving traces of the interaction on the site.

Video, sound, photographic and contextual documentation was funnelled through a collaborative process. Research material was analysed for cross artform appropriation.

Working within environmental science parameters has revealed opportunities for future engagement. Bonemap has created an installation for 'Uncharted - the River' a cross industry contemporary art project investigating the environmental and social significance of the Barron River in Tropical North Queensland. Presented by Kick Arts at
Cairns Regional Gallery (November 2000) Umbrella Studio (January 2001) Mildura Art Centre Palimpsest#4 (April 2001).
